At Marie Me Bridal, we are endlessly honoured to play a small part in some of life’s biggest moments and this beautiful real bride story is one we won’t soon forget. From the moment Jane found the dress, she became our very own “Wonder Woman” a bride we truly cherish!

From Tinder to True Love

Like many modern love stories, this one began on Tinder but what followed was anything but ordinary. Just a few months into dating, life took an unexpected and heartbreaking turn when Jane lost her mum. Through it all, Gareth showed up with a quiet strength and kindness that would shape the foundation of their relationship.

Together, they describe themselves as “two absolute eejits” full of fun, never taking themselves too seriously, and deeply emotional in the most beautiful way. And while they joked that their shared tendency to cry might take over the wedding day, it only made it more meaningful, more personal… more them. Looking through their album, it struck us how many of their pictures were of them laughing, and that, to us, is what a wedding day is all about!

Their wedding day was everything they are as a couple joyful, a little chaotic, filled with laughter, happy tears, and an overwhelming sense of love from everyone around them.

Finding “The One” – The Dress Experience

When Jane first came to us, she admitted she was nervous. Like so many women, she worried about how dress shopping might feel and unsure of what would suit her.

When she stepped into Wonder by Watters, everything clicked. That indescribable feeling brides talk about it was there. She looked incredible, but more importantly, she felt and looked incredible.

We’re always so grateful to hear that our brides feel genuinely celebrated during their appointments.

A Classic Wedding with a Vibrant Twist

Set against the stunning backdrop of Virginia Park Lodge, this wedding was the perfect blend of timeless elegance and bold personality.

The couple chose a classic black-and-white base, elevated with vibrant pops of colour woven throughout the day. Orange, both their favourite colour and a meaningful nod to Gareths football team, featured beautifully, alongside bold pinks in honour of Valentine’s weekend.  The result? A celebration that felt fresh, joyful, and completely unique.

And for a self-confessed foodie bride, the stunning venue; Virginia Park Lodge  was a dream choice. Every detail, from the atmosphere to the incredible food, ensured guests felt truly spoiled and cared for.

A Moment That Meant Everything

After 37 days of relentless rain, their wedding day brought nothing but sunshine. In fact, it was so bright they had to wait for clouds to capture their photos.  For Jane, it felt like more than just good luck, it felt like her mum was there, watching over them. A moment that added even more meaning to an already emotional day.

Advice from a Real Bride

If there’s one thing this bride wants future couples to remember, it’s this: Let go of the pressure. The tiny details that seem so important in the lead-up!  They fade away on the day. What truly matters is how it feels, the love, the laughter, and the people sharing it with you.

Our Final Thoughts

Thank you Jane for visiting us with your lovely sister Frances.  Being part of the moment when you found your dress, is something we’ll always treasure.

It’s simple, but true: “only love can truly save the world,” as Wonder Woman famously said and this day showed it. To our beautiful Jane (AKA Our Wonder Woman) and Gareth, thank you for letting us be part of your story! xx

Q - How much did you LOVE your wedding dress - Tell us about your Marie Me Experience:

A - I absolutely loved my wedding dress. I was genuinely nervous about dress shopping, being curvier, I worried it might feel overwhelming or that finding something I truly felt good in would be difficult. All I really wanted was to feel comfortable, confident, and most importantly, myself.

I’m so glad Marie Me was my first appointment because the experience was way better than I could have imagined. Fiona was so warm and welcoming and from the moment I arrived, I felt immediately relaxed and at ease. After trying on the very first dress she suggested, I knew I was in good hands. It wasn’t something I would have picked for myself, but I felt amazing in it, and for the first time I thought, “Okay… maybe there is something out there for me”

And then she zipped up THE dress, Wonder by Watters, and I just knew it was the one. Fiona and Eilish were the ultimate hype girls, but in the most genuine way. It never felt salesy, it felt like they were just as invested and excited as I was. I honestly felt like the only bride they had ever styled.

Every appointment after that felt slightly underwhelming in comparison, which really confirmed I’d found my place. I was absolutely chuffed that the decision felt so easy and I loved going back to tell the girls I was choosing Wonder.

Q - Tell us about your wedding:

A - Our wedding theme was classic with a fun twist. We kept the base palette timeless and elegant, lots of black and white, but added vibrant pops of colour throughout the day.

On any given day you’ll find me in black (black dress, black leggings, black everything), but I absolutely love colour. Orange is our favourite colour and it’s also Gareth’s club colour, so it felt like a natural choice to weave it in. With it being Valentine’s weekend, we wanted bold pinks and vibrant oranges for a fresh, joyful contrast against the monochrome base.

We chose Virginia Park Lodge because of its incredible reputation for food, and I’m a big foodie, so that was non-negotiable! The whole experience there is so considered, from the atmosphere to the details on the plate. We wanted our guests to feel completely spoiled, well fed, and properly looked after and it absolutely delivered.

Q - What is your Top Tip:

A - Relax and enjoy it. It’s your day. Try not to worry about what anyone else thinks or says - the only thing that truly matters is that you and your partner are happy and that the day reflects who you are as a couple.

Don’t sweat the small stuff, because on the day it genuinely does not matter. The tiny details you might stress over in the lead-up won’t even cross your mind once you’re standing there together. What you’ll remember is how it felt - the love, the laughter, the people in the room and that’s what makes it special.
