An ABBAsolutely Amazing Wedding!

WOW! Stop whatever you're doing because this wedding needs your full attention! Just under a year ago these happy humans became Mr & Mrs and will celebrate their first wedding anniversary on the 1st July.

Introduced through their mutual friend (and bridesmaid) they got engaged on the 1st May after 6 years together. Fast forward to the wedding day, where a bunch of talented vendors made it a day to remember.  Lauren tells us ‘If we could go back and do our wedding day again I wouldn’t change a thing… it really was the best day ever!’

The lovely Lauren wore a breathtaking Wtoo by Watters layered tulle wedding dress with a rhinestone beaded bodice that features a stellar, star-like pattern that sparkles beautifully just like this bride. She was an absolute star in every way and blew us away with her comments; “Fiona and Eilish were amazing from the word go at Marie Me. I couldn't get over how many beautiful dresses there were and when I put on my dress I got ALL the feels! I will never forget the excitement and how genuinely happy the girls at Marie Me were too! I don't even mind admitting that I was a little bit obsessed with my dress, I couldn't stop looking at pictures of it and couldn't wait to get married in it!”

The bridesmaids complement perfectly in the #Lewis dress from Wtoo also. A dream in chiffon and the flowers match it blooming marvellously!

Tell us a little about yourselves :

John and I met through our mutual friend Catherine on her birthday in 2015 (she of course had to be a bridesmaid at the wedding after unintentionally setting us up).

We’ve had a lot of experiences together since we became ‘official’ - holidays, buying our first home, getting our crazy but cute dog, lockdown life, and career changes (we actually now work together at John’s health and fitness business!)

After 6 years together, we got engaged on 1st May 2021 at the beautiful White Park Bay, John’s third attempt at the proposal after COVID put a stop to his initial plans (sure the north coast is much better than Santorini anyway ?). It was the most perfect evening and one I will always remember!

How much did you LOVE your wedding dress? Tell us about your Marie Me shopping experience:

Oh my, where do I begin with how much I loved my dress, and my entire experience with Marie Me!?

I had been a little deflated after visiting some other bridal shops and on the morning of my appointment with Marie Me, I was thinking 'I probably won't see anything today either'...how wrong I was!

While waiting on my mum to go to the appointment, I had another look on Marie Me's website and took a screenshot of a dress that caught my eye for the first time that morning - this ended up being 'the one'!

Fiona and Eilish were amazing from the word go at Marie Me. I couldn't get over how many beautiful dresses there were and when I put on my dress I got ALL the feels! I will never forget the excitement and how genuinely happy the girls at Marie Me were too! I don't even mind admitting that I was a little bit obsessed with my dress, I couldn't stop looking at pictures of it and couldn't wait to get married in it!

We actually were so impressed with everything at Marie Me that we booked an appointment to come back and get our bridesmaid dresses there - they were the most beautiful colour, absolutely loved them! ?

From that first appointment right up to the wedding day, the ladies at Marie Me stayed in touch - they were the first to make me 'happy cry' on the Wedding Eve with the loveliest email... they then topped that with a special message sent for us which was read out during speeches... the nicest ladies ever! ?

Tell us about your wedding :

Keeping with the firsts of the month, we got married on 1st July 2022 at Magheramorne Estate - we know everyone says it about their wedding, but it really was the best day ever!

Our only ‘theme’ for the wedding was to have a laugh with each other, family and friends!

When planning most things for the wedding, we found we knew straight away if something was or wasn’t for us… and this was 100% the case when we went to view the amazing Magheramorne Estate. I joked at the time that it had a vibe of ‘friendly elegance’ when actually this does really sum up this venue! The staff, food and beauty of Magheramorne made our wedding day perfect for us - there were so many laughs throughout the day and we really can’t thank the venue and suppliers enough!

If we could go back and do our wedding day again I wouldn’t change a thing - getting ready with the girls at Dunamoy Cottages & Spa, saying ‘I Do’ surrounded by those closest to us, exploring the grounds at Magheramorne, the most delicious wedding meal (there was a DESSERT BAR), a surprise ABBA tribute act, dancing and chatting with our guests to the wee hours… it was the best day! ?

Memorable moment? What was the highlight of your day?

There were so many amazing moments throughout our wedding day though one thing that both John and I were really looking forward to was dessert…

Firstly, due to the fact we were having a dessert bar by the fabulous Jane’s Kitchen (if you know, you know) and secondly, because we’d booked a surprise ABBA tribute act to entertain guests during dessert! They were ABBAsolutely amazing! I remember looking at John while they were performing with all our guests dancing and singing along and thinking, this is exactly how I wanted us and everyone else to feel today - pure happiness! ☺️

We did also really love when our photographer and videographer took us up to the courtyard at Magheramorne for some quality time in the evening - we were able to have a little walk and dance at dusk and again I remember looking at my new husband and thinking ‘we did it’. ☺️

Your top tip / word of advice for other couples planning their wedding day:

Choose your suppliers carefully! You will enjoy your day so much more knowing that your guests are being well looked after with quality food, music, service etc. Really important to make sure you pick a photographer who will ensure you get lots of time to actually celebrate becoming husband and wife with your new husband/wife!

P.S. to the brides out there, don’t worry about your dress getting dirty on the day! You are only going to wear it once and you won’t regret going into the muddy fields when you see your photos!
