A Celestial Affair: When the Sun (Leo) Married the Moon (Cancer) and the stars aligned!

Posted by Eilish & Fiona AKA 'The Marie Me Matchmakers'! ❤️ on 25th Oct 2023

Here's to love, laughter, and unexpected mosh pits — let's dive into the love story of Rhianna (Leo) and Dovy (Cancer) todays #JustWedWednesday couple-an ode to celestial love.

Once Upon a Leo and a Cancer: A Love Story Sparked at Anchor Bar! Their journey began at University and a shared house that destiny orchestrated.

Tell us a little about yourselves

"We met when I was at uni and Dovy lived in a shared house with my friends - we started talking and then after a month, during a night out at the Anchor bar, he asked me out. We moved in together after 7 months and got engaged just before our 2 year anniversary. He proposed by filling our apartment with candles and flowers (setting the fire alarm off twice) and asked me in our living room. We then had a 4 1/2 year engagement until finally, after 4 houses, 3 job changes each and 2 cats, we got married in the same month he first asked me out."

Tell us about your wedding

Our theme was "celestial sun and moon" because my zodiac sign is ruled by the sun (Leo) and Dovy's is ruled by the moon (Cancer) which included moon phases on our DIY arch, crystal wedding favours, constellations as table names and our table plan was the moon phases. We didn't want too it to be too "flowery" or traditional, so we had a celebrant make it more of a personal ceremony. We had games in the evening and got everyone to run down on to the beach at sunset! We also had temporary tattoos with our names on them hidden in the bathrooms for our guests to find - my 90 year old granny was the first to get tatted up!

How much did you LOVE your wedding dress?

Being from Antrim, I had heard of Marie Me Bridal and it was the second shop I went to. I knew what I wanted in my head and as soon as I arrived, Fiona made me feel so welcome and at ease and knew immediately what I would like and dislike and handed the most beautiful dresses that fit my criteria exactly. When she handed me the Stella York dress I knew before I put it on that I would love it - and of course from the squeals of excitement from the changing room, my mum knew as well I'd found the one! I couldn't stop smiling when I had it on and Fiona made me feel so confident wearing it. I went back again a week later and sealed the deal and I couldn't have found a better dress or had a better shopping experience anywhere! The girls are one in a million and I've already recommended them to everyone I know!

Memorable Moments and Unexpected Mosh Pits: The Day Unfolded

I loved going down to the beach at sunset with our bridal party to take some fun candids before the music started. Also my husband is a metal-head and loves linkin park so we requested the DJ play "in the end" - and to our delight, the dancefloor was quickly filled with all our friends singing so loud and creating an impromptu mosh pit! It was so much fun!

Top Tip from the Celestial Couple: Make It Yours!

Don't be afraid to make it personal to you and your fiance! We aren't traditional or religious so we wanted to have some fun and really reflect our personalities and it was so worth it! So many of our guests had never seen crystals as favours or had emo music played at the reception but they loved all of it because it was us :)

So, here's to making it uniquely yours ,embrace your personalities, quirks, and passions just like Rhianna and Dovy did. In the end, it's not just about the dress or the venue; it's about weaving a tale that resonates with your love. Cheers to the journey, the love, and the happily ever after! ?✨
